Ernest DAWSON was born at 40 Nuttal Street, Bury 15 December 1879.  Ernest died 11 May 1952 Bolton, Lancashire, at 72 years of age.  Ernest died at the age of 72 years.  The death was registered by his brother Arthur DAWSON on 12 May 1952.  Arthur gave his address as 14 Hague Street, Manchester 10. 

He married Martha Ann LYONS in All Saints Parish Church, Newton Heath, 10 May 1908.  The Wedding took place at 12 noon on a Sunday. 

Martha was born in 12 Culcheth Gates, Newton 2 November 1882.  Martha was the daughter of John LYONS and Margaret SIDEBOTHAM.  Martha died 25 July 1928 in No 13 Loring Street, Newton Heath, at 45 years of age.  Her body was interred 28 July 1928 in Newton Heath, All Saints Parish Church. 

At one time Ernest worked for Heenan and Froude.  He used to boast that he had seen the top of Blackpool Tower from Oldham road, which is some 50 miles away.  In truth the Tower was prefabricated by Heenan and Froude at their factory off Oldham road and the top section could be clearly seen through the factory gates.

At the time of the 1901 census Ernest was living with his mother at 112 Roberts Street.  He gave his oocupation as 'Labourer, Froude Foundary'.
