Thomas KIRK was born in Coppenhall, Cheshire 19 December 1786. 

He was baptized in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 31 December 1786. Religion: C of E.  The Baptism entry states "Born a Pauper".


He married Mary BAKER in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 26 December 1809.  Married by Banns. Banns read on 10th, 17th and 24th December 1809. In the presence of Wm Roylance and William Yoxall X (mark).


Mary was born in Leighton, Cheshire 1788. 


He was listed as head of household in the 1841 census in Church Coppenhall.  At the time of the 1841 census Thomas (50, Ag Lab.) was living in Church Coppenhall together with his wife Mary (50) and their daughter Jane (9).


He was listed as head of household in the 1851 census in Church Coppenhall, Crewe.  At the time of the 1851 census Thomas (67) was living at Church Coppenhall together with his wife Mary (64) and their grandson William YOXALL (12). Thomas gave his occupation as 'Agricultral Labourer'.  


Thomas KIRK and Mary BAKER had the following children:

Thomas KIRK was born 3 January 1812.


John KIRK was born in Coppenhall, Cheshire 1813.  He married Ellen (Elizabeth) POOLE St Leonards, Warmingham, 29 December 1835.  At the time of their Marriage John was a bachelor and Ellen was a spinster.  Both put their Mark.  The witnesses were Thomas POOLE & Elizabeth KIRK.  Ellen was born Moston, Cheshire 1813. 

He was baptized in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 23 January 1814. 

At the time of the 1841 census John (25) was living at Tetton together with his wife Ellen (30).  Also living with them were Hannah YOXALL (10) and Elizabeth WOOD (1).  John was an'Ag Lab'.

At the time of the 1851 census John (35) was living at Gravel Hill, Wharton together with his wife Elizabeth (38).  John was a 'Salt Maker'. Also living with them as a visitor was John BAKER (65) a widower, occupation 'Bread Baker'.  This John is possibly related to John on his mother, Mary BAKER's side. 

At the time of the 1861 census John (46) was living at Winsford Hill Road, Wharton together with his wife Ellen (52).  John gave his occupation as 'Salt Maker'.  Also boarding with them was Margaret Ellen YOXALL (8). 

At the time of the 1871 census John was living at Winsford Gravel Hill, Wharton together with his wife Ellen (60).  Margaret Ellen (18) is now shown as being their daughter.  John gave his occupation as 'Salt Boiler'.


Elizabeth KIRK was born 9 August 1815.


Ellen KIRK was born in Coppenhall, Cheshire 4 May 1817.  She was baptized in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 14 December 1817.


William KIRK was born in Coppenhall, Cheshire 24 July 1820.  He was baptized in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 24 December 1820.


Sarah KIRK was born Drury Lane, Church Coppenhall 17 May 1823.   She was baptized in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 15 June 1823.


She married twice.  She married William JONES Parish Church, Barthomley, 12 April 1843.  Married by Banns in the presence of Isaac KIRK and Anne JONES.  William was of full age and gave his abode as Crewe and his occupation as Labourer. Sarah was a Minor.  William was the son of Joseph JONES. 


Sarah married Charles SLANEY in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 30 April 1861.

 

She was listed as a resident in the census report in Church Coppenhall, 6 June 1841.  At the time of the 1841 census Sarah (15) was working on a farm.


Isaac KIRK was born Feb 1825.


Stephen KIRK was born in Church Coppenhall June 1828.  He was baptized in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 22 June 1828.   Stephen died 1851 Chorlton, at 23 years of age.  There is a possible death for Stephen, March qtr 1851, Chorlton, XX 113.


At the time of the 1841 census Stephen (14) was employed on the farm of Richard LINDOP at Church Coppenhall. 


Jane KIRK was born in Church Coppenhall, Crewe 24 June 1832.  She was baptized in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 24 June 1832.


She married William LEACH in St Michaels, Church Coppenhall, 8th July 1850.  William was born 1829.  William was the son of John LEACH.
