Thomas KIRK was born in Clive 1 February 1843.


He married Sarah Williams OAKES Congregational Church, Middlewich, 1872.  At the time of their marriage Thomas was 29 yrs, a bachelor living at Clive. Sarah was 24 yrs, a spinster living at Newton.  The witnesses were Thos. POOLE and Mary KIRK. 


Sarah was born Newton, Mid Cheshire 1847 the daughter of James OAKES and Emma oakes. 


Thomas's occupation: Bricklayers Labourer in Clive, 1871.


At the time of the 1881 census Thomas (38) was living at Stanthorne, Cheshire together with his wife Sarah (33) and their children Mary E. (8), John (6), twins Sarah Emma and Thomas (4) and Carles Okes (1).  Thomas gave his occupation as 'Wagon Shunter (RB).


At the time of the 1891 census Thomas (48) is living at Middlewich Road, Stanthorne together with his wife Sarah (44) and their children Mary E (18), John (16), Thomas (14), Charles Oakes (11) and James Henry (7).  Thomas gave his occupation as 'General Labourer'. 


At the time of the 1901 census Thomas (55) was living at Stanthorne together with his wife Sarah W. (53) and their children Thomas (24), James H. (17), Mary E. (28) and Sarah E. (24).  Also living with them at this time were Thomas's widowed mother Mary KIRK nee DALE (83), his grandson Frank P. KIRK (3) and his nephew Marcus F. C. CHALLINER (4).  Thomas gave his occupation as 'Ordinary Agricultural Labourer'.  


Thomas KIRK and Sarah Williams OAKES had the following children:


Mary E. KIRK was born Newton, Mid Cheshire 1873.  At the time of the 1901 census Mary (26) was a servant at 'Bella Vista'.


John KIRK was born Stanthorne, Ches 1874.


Sarah Emma KIRK was born 1877.


Thomas KIRK was born 1877.


Charles Oakes KIRK was born Stanthorne, Ches 1879


James Henry KIRK was born in Davenham 1883.  James died 12 July 1919 at 37 years whilst serving as a Private with the 8th Battalion of the Cheshire Regiment in WW2.  is Service Number was 11336.  The place that James died is unknown.  There is a memorial to him in Middlewich Cemetery ref C 530.  His parents address is given as Hawthorne Cottages, Middlewich.  His wife Martha Ann was living at 79 Wheelock Street, Middlewich.  (Taken from the CWGC).  He married Martha Ann MORRIS Northwich Civil Ceremony, 1905
